Russian drone strike in Kyiv region injures five, including three children

A Russian drone attack on the Kyiv region left five members of the same family injured, according to Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.

The victims, residents of the Boryspil district, include a 17-year-old boy, a 3-year-old girl, and their 42-year-old mother, all suffering from acute stress reactions. Additionally, a 13-year-old boy sustained a cut wound on his foot, while a 30-year-old man suffered a cut wound to his brow bone.

Kalashnyk assured that all necessary medical care is being provided, and preliminary reports indicate that hospitalization was not required.

Fragments from the downed UAV damaged a private home where the family was staying, shattering windows and damaging the roof. Authorities are working to secure temporary housing for the affected family.

The attack also caused damage to a non-residential building, a car, warehouses, and outbuildings. Emergency services continue to assess and address the aftermath of the strike.

As reported by Ukrinform, on the night of May 18, Russian forces launched over 150 drones at the Kyiv region, causing severe destruction and casualties. In the Obukhiv district, an entire family was struck in the attack. A 27-year-old woman was killed, while her 4-year-old son was taken to Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital with shrapnel wounds to his face. A 59-year-old man, the child’s grandfather, underwent surgery and is currently in the trauma department of a local hospital. The 61-year-old grandmother also suffered multiple shrapnel wounds.
